Fenbendazole is an anthelmintic used to treat common helminth infections, including ascarids, hookworms, whipworms, and a single species of tapeworm, Taenia pisiformis. Giardia spp. are also considered susceptible to fenbendazole. Although therapeutic levels of fenbendazole generally are tolerated without grossly evident toxic or physiologic effects, the use of medicated feed in facilities with diverse research programs can worry researchers.
